Hog Roast Norwich – How To Set Up Your Event With Your Caterer

Putting together any event can be tricky. It doesn’t matter whether it is something as big as your wedding, as vital and pressurised as a showcase for your business, or as seemingly casual as a good get together with your friends and family. There are always plenty of pressures and plenty of decisions that need to be made.

But do not worry! When you come to Hog Roast Norwich we will make our part of the event planning experience as straightforward and as pressure free as possible. In doing so, we also hope that our service with you will also help other parts of the event to slot into place. Aspects like the schedule, timings of certain activities, the space for chairs, tables, etc – all of these things can come under the catering umbrella, so once you have your dining figured out with Hog Roast Norwich, everything else may start to take better shape, too.

Hog Roast NorwichTo aid your planning with us, there are some things we may ask that you have an idea of ahead of your first discussion with us. Our team will need to know certain simple questions: what is the event for? What kind of style are you going for – formal, informal, outdoor dining or indoor, etc? What is your venue? How many guests are you looking to feed?

These questions and answers will help us right away in recommending you the right services and menus for your event. You don’t have to be totally exhaustive in your answers – at least not right away, especially if the event is still far off – but even just an idea will allow our team to put together some free quotes on a couple of menu packages that we believe will best suit what you have told us. From there the Hog Roast Norwich team will continue to work closely with you to customise and tailor your dining to be exactly as you need it. We understand that the planning may come in stages and may change all the time. That is fine by us. We’ll remain open to switches even toward the last minute before your event. After all, we are here to cater, and we take that responsibility in all aspects of the word.

So, don’t be put off by event planning. Instead, come to Hog Roast Norwich today and let us get your served right!

Veganuary Continues at Hog Roast Retford!

Hog Roast RetfordThe last three weeks have seen Hog Roast Retford take on a slightly different shape for a lot of our catered events. While of course we are Hog Roast Retford: a roast pork and fine meat catering specialist, we have a lot of love for our vegan and veggie friends out there. During January, there is often a lot more of them too as many of us take on “Veganuary” (including some of the Hog Roast Retford team here. This is when people take the first month of the year to try either cut back on their meat consumption, or go fully vegetarian or even vegan for at least the full month of January. It coincides with other monthly trends, such as Dry January, where many of us take the first month of the year to try and refresh our lives for the better in one way or another.

Even as a roast meat specialist, the Hog Roast Retford team is fully behind Veganuary. We think it is excellent that people make such a conscious effort together for a month to try and better their lives with an eye on environmental protection, too. That is why when it has come to you January events, we have been so proud to offer a wholly different type of Hog Roast Retford dining experience to what you might typically expect from us. If you look at our menus you may find that there is a surprising amount of veggie and vegan options available. Often these are touted as “alternatives” however, but during Veganuary it is the hog roast that plays second fiddle to our main BBQ pulled jackfruit and assortment of delicious veggie and vegan skewers, salads, and side dishes!

Hog Roast RetfordWe have a great time over the last three weeks prepping some truly incredible wholesale veggie and vegan menus for many events. Making such a drastic change in your diet can be challenging, especially when it comes to things like events where it may be easy to revert back for just one day only. But with our eye on providing as good as you get in our veggie and vegan menus as you would find in our more “typical” meaty menus, the challenge becomes just as delicious as the norm!

Hog Roast Skegness – Supporting The RNLI With Our Delicious Hog Roasts!

This year, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) hit an epic milestone—200 years of saving lives at sea! This incredible charity, powered by a crew of fearless volunteers, has rescued over 146,277 people since its launch. To celebrate this monumental achievement, the RNLI has been throwing some fantastic events up and down the UK these past few months, and we at Hog Roast Skegness were thrilled to be part of the festivities!

Hog Roast SkegnessOn Sunday, the Hog Roast Skegness team packed up our gear and ventured a bit further than usual to cater for a privately organised RNLI fundraising event! The get-together, which was held at the docks and carefully planned by Alison as a way of raising money for a cause close to her heart, was a brilliant blend of good food and good company.

For a modest fee, attendees not only enjoyed a lip-smacking hog roast sandwich by the sea but also got an up-close look at the lifeboats and a chance to meet some of the real-life heroes who keep them afloat. There were also raffles with fabulous prizes, which added a little extra excitement to the day and helped to raise even more funds for the charity.

Our hog roast was most definitely a crowd-pleaser. From the moment the first roll was served, compliments started rolling in. Guests were wowed by the tender, juicy meat, the perfectly seasoned stuffing, and the applesauce that brought it all together. But the real icon? The crackling. It was crisp, lightly salted, and was so delicious it had everyone craving more.

Seeing people’s faces light up with delight as they savoured our food made the trip well worthwhile for Hog Roast Skegness. And, as for the handful of RNLI crew members who stopped by —they were not just heroes of the sea but also the best hosts, making sure everyone had a fantastic time while sharing their inspiring stories.

All in all, it was a fantastic day out for the Hog Roast Skegness team, filled with great food, great company, and a great cause. We loved being part of such a special day and helping to celebrate the RNLI’s incredible journey.

Here’s to the RNLI and their amazing 200 years of lifesaving service, and to many more events where we can bring our hog roast magic to support such a fantastic cause.

A Surprise Proposal With A Side Of Chef And Griddle!

Chef and GriddleProposing to the one you love is often hailed as the pinnacle of romance,  but it also comes with its fair share of stress and pressure. Traditionally, men have taken the lead in proposing, with only about 16% of women seizing the opportunity to pop the question. But Delilah decided to flip the script, and in doing so, she created a heartwarming and unforgettable experience for herself and her partner, Adam, all with the help of Chef and Griddle.

Delilah had been in a loving relationship with Adam for a number of years, and she knew that he would never expect her to propose. So, she hatched a plan to surprise him in the most unexpected and heartwarming way.

Delilah planned an event that she cleverly disguised as an overdue house-warming party, a gathering the couple had been talking about for ages. However, behind the scenes, she had been working with Chef and Griddle to create an unforgettable experience.

Setting the scene, the client adorned her back garden with enchanting fairy lights, flickering candles, and delicate rose petals, creating an ambience of pure romance – the perfect setting for a surprise proposal!

As friends and family gathered, under the pretence of attending a regular housewarming party, the anticipation was palpable. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, conversations, and the clinking of glasses as drinks and food flowed seamlessly.

Chef and Griddle’s BBQ menu, which featured an array of sumptuous dishes, including handmade British beef burgers, succulent gourmet sausages, flavourful chicken kebabs, and marinated spareribs, was an instant hit with the group. We also delighted plant-based guests with veggie burgers and vegetarian sausages, which paired beautifully with the inclusive selection of sides, such as Greek salad, pasta salad, and freshly made chips.

Then, the moment arrived. Delilah, with a heart full of love and courage, made a stunning announcement that captured everyone’s attention. As she bent the knee and presented the ring, gasps of surprise and joy echoed through the air. Adam’s expression was a wonderful mix of astonishment and happiness, and his immediate and heartfelt “yes!” filled the space with jubilation.

The surprise proposal was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening, but there was another star that played a crucial role in making the celebration unforgettable: Chef and Griddle. We were there to ensure that everyone was well-fed throughout the evening, and guests couldn’t get enough of our flavourful banquet.

Host An Artwork Shop With Catering From Chef and Griddle

Chef And GriddleArt workshops and creative courses are always great events to host and they are a lot of fun for guests and instructors. To elevate your event further, it can be a good idea to provide refreshments or catering, especially if the workshop is taking place over several hours. At Chef and Griddle, we have a variety of menus that are ideal for this occasion, including this one…

Megan is a local artist that hosts a wide variety of classes and workshops for people of all ages and abilities. This year, she wanted to host a longer workshop to allow customers to practice a wide variety of skills in one session. Since this workshop was set to take place over several hours, she also wanted to provide a delicious catering option for the customers to enjoy. For the menu, Chef and Griddle was hired to provide a classic hog roast, alongside a delicious meat-free option for several guests to enjoy. The menu would then be served buffet style during the lunch break to allow guests to enjoy a break from their hard work.

On the day of the event, the Chef and Griddle team arrived at the venue with plenty of time to prepare for the 1:00pm mealtime. We began by slow-roasting the hog and ensuring that it was cooked to perfection when it was then expertly carved by our chef. For meat-free guests, we also provided veggie sausages. The mains were served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, crispy crackling, and homemade applesauce. For the side dishes, we prepared homemade chips and a variety of salad dishes to create a varied and nutritious buffet lunch. Our menu was a great addition to this event and went down a treat with the customers!

Closing February With Great Dining At Chef and Griddle

Chef And GriddleSomehow we’ve already come to the end of February, but just before we at Chef and Griddle look forward to the oncoming Spring season of events we still had a busy week to close out winter with many wonderful events and hundreds of guests this past week. We thought we might let you know a little about some of the events that really excited us here at Chef and Griddle this past week – you never know, it may inspire you to put on your own with us sometime soon through Spring and Summer too!

The weekend took the Chef and Griddle team to an engagement party where our hog roast staple buffet worked wonders, helping to fuel a wonderful celebration that went long into the night. Unfortunately our team weren’t quite able to hang around and enjoy the full length of the partying, but we are glad that our foods could help the celebrations carry through to the wee hours of the morning!

Thankfully because we got a nice night’s rest following the engagement the Chef and Griddle were nice and fresh for the weekend of rugby action in the Six Nations, with our foods providing support to a couple of watch parties across the area. We were in at local rugby clubs themselves (and you know that those boys can certainly eat! ) as well as local pub events and booked out watch events from avid fans. Buffets again were the preferred option for most of these events, as guests could take in all the action without our interruption and eat at their own pac. Our foods were ready right from kick-off so that every minute of the action could be enjoyed with a pulled pork roll in hand! It’s even better when you can close out these events with a win too!

The weekend wasn’t our only port if call though. The weekdays saw a couple of corporate dining events, ranging from staff lunches to networking events and an industry talk for new level marketing strategies. All work and no dining makes events a dull affair, so thankfully the Chef and Griddle team was there to lend a hand with our roast delights!

Summer Catering

Good Afternoon! We have had yet another manic week in the office this week, the winter months are typically known as being the quieter months for hog roasting but we have been booking events in every 20 minuites the past few weeks. Most of the jobs we have been booking in are for Christmas parties as is to be expected at this time of year, however we have also made a staggering amount of bookings for next year and 2014 as well. I think this is because our customers are getting ahead of the curve as they know how exceptionally busy we are in the summer months and they want to get their event booked in so they can breathe a little easier not having to worry about availability.

We have also been taking a lot of bookings for hog roast machine hires next year for the summer months ready for the festivals. Speaking of machine hires we hired out two hog roast machines with two pigs on Sunday for a customer that was serving 200 people in Keynsham. We dropped the equipment and the pigs off early on Sunday morning with two bottles of gas and the instruction manuals and collected them on Monday at midday. We cleaned the machines for the customer on this occasion, we usually ask that they are returned clean however the customer had agreed to pay the cleaning charge so we happily cleaned it for them.

We have also catered for a large party this week, the customer had our gourmet hog roast which typically includes the spit roasted pig with all the trimmings, three salads and warm new potatoes. On this occasion the customer wanted to swap the new potatoes for potato wedges which we did no problem, all of our menus can simply be starting points if you wish as all of our chefs can make anything you require of us, we have even been know to roast crocodile and bison in the past!

If you would like to book an event or machine hire for 2013 I would urge you to make your enquiry now using the contact form or call the office using the telephone number on the main page.
