Helen and her fiancé are getting married in spring 2024 and are currently organising the finishing touches for their big day. The couple are hosting their reception in a beautiful function room overlooking a lake, with a rustic and floral theme throughout the venue. For the catering, Chef And Griddle has been hired to provide a delicious and hearty buffet menu for the occasion. After looking through our catering packages, it was decided that a classic hog roast would be ideal, with a few additional main dishes to ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

 

On the day of the event, the Chef And Griddle team will arrive at the function room in the afternoon to prepare for the 7:00pm serving time. We will begin our prep by slow-roasting the hog and ensuring that it has over five hours to slow-roast to perfection. The pork will then be carved and served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. Alternatively, the guests can enjoy succulent pork sausages or veggie sausages in bread rolls to create hot dogs. For the selection of sides, we will be serving homemade chips, gourmet coleslaw, and a selection of salad dishes. All of our dishes will combine to create a delicious and varied menu, with plenty for each guest to enjoy. Chef and Griddle Braved The Elements To Attend A Charity Gala!

Chef And GriddleIn the face of the UK’s recent turbulent weather, Chef and Griddle proved that not even a storm could dampen our spirits or halt our commitment to creating unforgettable moments. Last week, we ventured to a local casino, defying the elements, to contribute to a truly spectacular Casino Royale-themed charity gala. Despite the weather warnings of high-speed winds and torrential rain our team was determined to make the event a memorable one.

As guests braved the stormy weather to attend this luxurious affair, they were met with an opulent atmosphere that echoed the sophistication of a James Bond film. Casino tables adorned the venue, inviting attendees to try their luck in various card games, all while dressed in elegant cocktail attire. The evening was enhanced with specialty mixed drinks, live entertainment, swag bags filled with delightful surprises, and raffles offering the chance to win upscale prizes.

Chef and Griddle, true to our dedication to excellence, ensured that the culinary experience matched the event’s lavish theme. Our Formal Hog Roast Dining Experience Menu enticed the taste buds from the beginning. Arriving guests were treated to a selection of exquisite canapés, including roasted duck, smoked Scottish salmon, roasted halloumi and tomato crostini, pan-seared fillet of beef, and an exciting Indian selection.

The indulgence continued with a three-course meal, starting with a hearty homemade soup of the day served with crusty bread rolls and butter. For the main course, guests were presented with a choice: garlic and rosemary-studded English lamb with Yorkshire puddings and mint sauce, whole-roasted free-range pig with crackling, stuffing, and applesauce, or grilled vegetable kebabs with optional halloumi, tzatziki dip, and flatbreads. Each main was complemented by classic Caesar salad, heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, coleslaw, and buttered new potatoes.

The culinary journey reached its pinnacle with the delightful vacherins of strawberries and passion fruit cream or handmade individual cheesecakes, ending the feast on a sweet note.

The guests were not only enchanted by the food but were also captivated by the evening’s atmosphere, which saw a stormy night transformed into a sparkling gala of generosity and warmth. Much to the delight of the event organisers, the evening surpassed all expectations, enabling them to donate more than anticipated to their chosen cause.

A Surprise Proposal With A Side Of Chef And Griddle!

Traditionally, men have taken the lead in proposing, with only about 16% of women seizing the opportunity to pop the question. But Delilah decided to flip the script, and in doing so, she created a heartwarming and unforgettable experience for herself and her partner, Adam, all with the help of Chef and Griddle.

Delilah had been in a loving relationship with Adam for a number of years, and she knew that he would never expect her to propose. So, she hatched a plan to surprise him in the most unexpected and heartwarming way.

Delilah planned an event that she cleverly disguised as an overdue house-warming party, a gathering the couple had been talking about for ages. However, behind the scenes, she had been working with Chef and Griddle to create an unforgettable experience.

Setting the scene, the client adorned her back garden with enchanting fairy lights, flickering candles, and delicate rose petals, creating an ambience of pure romance – the perfect setting for a surprise proposal!

As friends and family gathered, under the pretence of attending a regular housewarming party, the anticipation was palpable. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, conversations, and the clinking of glasses as drinks and food flowed seamlessly.

Chef and Griddle’s BBQ menu, which featured an array of sumptuous dishes, including handmade British beef burgers, succulent gourmet sausages, flavourful chicken kebabs, and marinated spareribs, was an instant hit with the group. We also delighted plant-based guests with veggie burgers and vegetarian sausages, which paired beautifully with the inclusive selection of sides, such as Greek salad, pasta salad, and freshly made chips.

Then, the moment arrived. Delilah, with a heart full of love and courage, made a stunning announcement that captured everyone’s attention. As she bent the knee and presented the ring, gasps of surprise and joy echoed through the air. Adam’s expression was a wonderful mix of astonishment and happiness, and his immediate and heartfelt “yes!” filled the space with jubilation.

The surprise proposal was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening, but there was another star that played a crucial role in making the celebration unforgettable: Chef and Griddle. Spit Roast Lamb

Yesterday was the Islamic New Year and we were out cooking a Halal lamb roast for 100 guests in Addlestone. The Islamic couple that we were doing the roast for are repeat customers of ours who trust us to do an exceptionally tasty Halal spit roast. The menu that the couple opted for was a whole spit roast lamb with rosemary and thyme along with roast potatoes which we cooked in a tray with the lamb fat.

For the vegetarians we prepared meat free somosas which went down a storm. This was all served onto high quality crockery which we collected after the meal and cleaned off site. In the office the new years eve enquiries are flooding in especially for machine hires and pigs. Our machines can fit through most normal sized doors and have pneumatic tires for ease of transportation, so they are an ideal machine for new years eve parties. We can also supply pigs and lambs to go in the machine and will put it in the machine for you and set it going, so all you have to do is check the temperature of the meat and carve it when it is ready. We also supply all of our machines with a 19 kilo gas bottles which is enough to feed around three pigs or lambs.

We are also getting a lot of enquiries for weddings and corporate events in Summer next year, summer is always a fantastic time for hog roasts. Due to the large number of enquiries we are receiving and the fact that we are so exceptionally busy in Summer we urge you to start booking your hog roasts straight away to avoid disappointment. We can provide everything from canapés and desserts to simple evening meals such as bacon and sausage rolls with a few salads. Christmas is also still a very busy period for us with us booking in quite a few turkey roasts this week for Christmas parties or just family gatherings. We are all looking forward to being able to share the festive cheer with people through our hog and turkey roasts and we bet they are going to make a lot of customers extremely happy.

Wedding Hog Roasts

At Chef and Griddle we have had a very busy week in the office and also had a flat out weekend catering. We catered for a small party of 50 for a lovely couple’s wedding in Andover, they wanted a quieter wedding with only their closest family and friends present. A common question that we are asked is whether we can cater for these smaller number of guests and the answer is we absolutely can., as we are very close with our suppliers we can basically pick the size of pig to suit your event.

We had a member of staff situated to spot the bride and groom as they were on the way back from the church, when we spotted the happy couple making their way back we started pouring their reception drinks to have them ready for when they arrived. The couple had also chosen canapés to warm their guests up for the hog roast, the chef and griddle serving staff were constantly returning with empty platters of canapés as they were exceptionally popular. The most popular were the honey glazed gourmet sausages which were skewered on sticks and served on a platter with a whole grain mustard dip.

There were a number of vegetarians at the wedding so we freshly prepared them a Spanish quiche consisting of high quality organic vegetables, at chef and griddle we don’t believe that vegetarians should be left out at a hog roast just because roasted meat is the focus of the meal. We can freshly prepared a large number of vegetarian options from stuffed peppers to roasted aubergine.

The main roast also went perfectly, the pork crackling was golden, flavoursome and lifted off easily. The couple had also opted for a small spit roast lamb which is quite a popular option for weddings due to the diversity of having two very different meats on offer. The spit roasted lamb looks very similar to the pork whilst it is cooking so it is also a good option for people that want whole roasted meat but decide not to have pork. Lamb is also a fantastic tasting meat and it has never tasted better than when it is slowly flame roasted and basted with its own juices. The guests all lined up with their real crockery and went from the roast pork to the roast lamb, most of the guests had a bit of both as they had never tried pork or lamb prepared in this manner.

Serving this small amount of guests did not take long even though we were chatting to them as they came along, for larger amount of guests we simply take more staff and hog roast machines so nobody is left waiting for their food.

Summer Weddings

Hello Hog Roast blog readers now that I am back in the office I thought I’d take10 minutes or so to tell you all how great our weekend full of catering went.

We had a very exciting weekend catering another one of our summer weddings which we always enjoy because all of the spitting pig catering team gets to come together to help out we have staff to serve the reception drinks and staff to serve canapés our Chef spent the morning seasoning the pig to make the most wonderful crackling that everyone enjoyed apart from the veggies that is in which we replaced with our popular homemade spinaches quiches which always goes down well with the non meat eaters.

As guests started to arrive a great selection of warm, hand made, freshly cooked canapés were served to start whilst the pig finished roasting and was cooked and carved by one of our fully qualified Chefs.

The scent of the meat juices filled the air as tender pork sandwiches were served to the guests, three freshly made salads were served along side this with servings of hot jacket potatoes, because our fluffy jacket potatoes are cooked in our hog roasting ovens they are by far the best jacket potatoes in the land.

Nothing will go down better on a rainy day than some hot traditional food and what better way to caterer you event than with something a little bit different.

 

 

A Perfect Wedding

Hog Roast Caterer believe this month will see a huge raise in sales due to the sun and many events we have booked for this wonderful month there are surely more to come.

The first of the month kicked off with a marvellous sit down wedding which the lovely couple decided to have Wedding Menu 4 which we provide Canapés as the guests arrive, the couple from Burnley decided to pick Haloumi Kebabs, Mini Pizza, Mushroom Vole Vaunts and Chicken Satay, which they all went down a treat, the Haloumi Kebabs being most people’s favourite. After some light and delightful Canapés all the guests were seated and served Hot New Potato & Walnut Salad and Apricot Dressing another light dish which tasted delicious. Then the Wedding guests where served two spit roasts which were Spit Roasted Pig served with Apple Sauce, Stuffing and Crispy Crackling and Spit Roasted Lamb Seasoned with Rosemary Served With Mint and Mustard both dishes were served with Seasonal Vegetables and Warm New Potatoes. Both were adored by all, Bride and Groom had both Spit Roasted Pig and Spit Roasted Lamb, we were complemented on how fresh the ingredients were plus how scrumptious all the food was. To polish of this feast fit for a King and Queen such as the couple we served to the table Chocolate Delight, once again being light and tasty perfect for finishing off a banquet. The newlyweds and all the guests were quick to praise how amazing the evening was and how outstanding the food was. We gave out a large amount of business cards we have two booking this month from that wedding event to cater for both are birthdays; we look forward to seeing them again.

We have also sold many of our grand hog roasting machines to various customers we hope they have an amazing time roasting in the sun. We feel at the Hog Roast Caterer with the new site, the new hire and buy hog roast machine service and the sun we can produce a vast amount of sales as well as catering for grand and wonderful events in the nice warm sun. It is nearing the Summer and the Diamond Jubilee weekend, have already acquired high demand in catering events and hog roast machine hires and sales.
