A hog roast in the sun

A hog roast in the sun

Hello hog blog readers hope you are all having a great day.  Look at the glorious weather outside today.  It really does seem to put a smile on everybody’s face and the hog roast caterer team are no exception.  I don’t think I have ever seen so many smiles on a Monday morning.  Like the beautiful weather our hog roasts always manage to make people smile and create a great atmosphere at any event.

Yesterday  we catered at a outdoor music event not too far from us, as we had the sunshine AND a tasty hog roast our clients plus visitors to the event were more than pleased.  We did a nice and simple hog roast menu.  As well melt in the mouth, cooked to perfection pork we treated the 500 people to freshly baked bread rolls, home made savoury stuffing, sweet secret recipe apple sauce and crunchy crackling.  This allows our customers to get the best experience from the hog roast and makes the ultimate pork sandwich.

It certainly went down a treat as people queued up for seconds and even thirds it wasn’t long before everybody had eaten and there wasn’t a scrap of meat left for us!  So obviously it was appreciated and enjoyed by all.  After this hog roast event was complete we pack up and headed of to our next party which was another outdoor event so we got to enjoy the evening sun shine as well.  Fingers crossed the good weather continues into the long Easter weekend next week.

Local company celebrate their business birthday with a hog roast

It’s time for another hog blog from everyone’s favourite hog roast caterers!  Hi everybody hope you are all well and having a fantastic Wednesday its half way to the weekend so keep going now we are almost there now.

I have an interesting mid week event this evening as I am catering at corporate function.  Its a large local company and they have requested our services at their function this tonight.  It is for all employees of the company and is to celebrate 25 successful years in business.  Of course there is no better way to celebrate such an occasion then with a tasty hog roast.  Its not just our famous hog roast that’s on offer either.  The whole work force is being treated to a fine three course meal cooked by yours truly and the rest of my team.  We will serve canapés on arrival and mouth watering starters before bringing on the main treat……. the mighty hog roast and of course all the extras finally we will finish with our home made sweet treats for pudding.  It should be a great night.

Sunny Catering

Out on events today and it has sure been one hell of a fine day. The sun was shining and the birds were singing. All was set to be one of those days which the mobile hog and spit roast caterer dreams of. As we headed towards our first catered wedding function in the northern parts of Cumbria, we noticed that there was a strange noise coming from the back of the catering van we were in. This was not a great start. However, after stopping and checking everything out, we realised that all was well and thus we continued.

After collecting our freshly slaughtered pigs from the organic producers on the way to the venue, we stopped off to retrieve some salad and vegetable options that were needed in order to fulfil the requirements of the hosts requests. These things included some rather exotic ingredients, so as chefs we were really excited by the prospect of getting to grips with some exceptional cuisine as well as some great methods of food preparation. During the hog and spit roast catered event, it was great to note just how well all of our food was going down with the guest. Filled to the brim with a variety of our wonderful foods, the clients could simply not get enough of the glorious food which we put on offer for the benefit of our clients. From sumptuous pork through to fantastically cooked lamb, our food put a solid stamp on excellence.

Hog Friends

The world of hog roast catering is one which is continually full of shocks and surprises. Of course, not all of them are positive experience- far from it in fact, as sometimes the weather can really put an awful dampener on the festivities. On the whole, however, the experiences that can be had in the wonderful world of hog and spit roast catering can be wonderful and excellent. Just today, for example, we had the unexpected joy of welcoming a visitor who we had not seen for many months. This person was once a client who had a wedding event catered for by us. Similar to many other clients who have had hog and spit roast catered events with us over the years, this lady sure livened up our day with the lively prospects of the plans she was formulating for her summer event. Based around the central theme of the 1920’s, our friends regaled us with her ambitious plans. Forming the catering aspect of the event sounded like a great idea, and it was something that our events team took to with much gusto. Although it is the case that the ever shifting culinary landscape of Great Britain changes often, and has done so in favour of hog and spit roast catered events in the recent years, we still gain huge support from our repeat customers. New is good but an old friend is always nice.

The week begins with a hog roast and a lamb roast

Good afternoon hg roast caterer lovers!  Its Monday the 21st of March and its time for anther exciting hog blog from everybody’s favourite hog roasters…… The hog roast caterer team.  Its been a busy weekend yet again and we have been rushing around all over doing hog roast catering events as well as delivering and collecting our hog roast machines from our loyal hog roast hire customers.  Now its the start of another action packed week and its   time for yet another tasty hog roast to be cooked by us the hog roast caterer team.  We are coking a hog roast AND a lamb roast for  a charity event this afternoon.  We will be feeding over 300 hungry fundraisers as they finish their sponsored work.  After all that working and hard work they can tuck into a tasty pork in a roll sandwich with apple sauce and stuffing or a mouth watering lamb in a roll with mint sauce.  The walk is being done to raise some pennies for a local children’s charity so naturally we are honoured to be taking part and as always our hog roast will be the star of the event!

A hog roast to say goodbye

Its Tuesday afternoon and its time for another tasty hog roast.  This afternoon were cooking up another perfect hog for a small family party.  Tuesday afternoon is a strange time to hold a party but its a goodbye/ bon voyage party for a family member who is off travelling the world for a year.  The lucky youngster flies out of the UK late tonight so this evening he is being treated to a tremendous hog roast with his family for his last supper.

It will be a small intimate dinner party and we will be serving the hog roast feast as a sit down dinner rather than an informal buffet style.  Its not just the hog roast we will be serving up at this special dinner party.  We will be provided the full works and each family member has requested their favourite trimmings so there will be a huge selection of potato treats, fresh tasty salads, seasonal veggies and great range of sauces and condiments as well as our famous freshly baked bread rolls.  I’m sure these wonderful side dishes will compliment the hog roast perfectly.  The hog roast itself will be done using one of our smaller pigs and secreat receipe glaze. It will then be slowly cooked to perfection on one of our award winning machines.  We will cook the hog outside under a large gazebo before wheeling back into the main room to serve along side all the other goodies.  Its going to be an emotional gathering and I’m sure there will be tears of sadness over the farewells but tears of joy over the outstanding hog roast.

Why I love being a hog roast caterer by Barry Saunders (aka BBQ Barry)

Why I love being a hog roast caterer by Barry Saunders (aka BBQ Barry)

Good afternoon to all the hog roast caterer blog readers, its Barry Saunders here and I am one of the head hog roasting chefs at hog roast catering.  I am affectionately known as BBQ Barry by my customers and colleagues and the reason for this is because I simply love my job and there’s nothing I enjoy more than whipping up a tasty hog roast feast or meaty barbecue.

People often say to me “why do you love your job as a hog roast caterer so much?” and I always answer the same, There is not just one reason I love being a hog roster there is many.  First of all there is my love and passion for creating quality, tasty food, then there is the fun and excitement of watching a beautiful hog roast being cooked to perfection, there is also the pleasure of catching up with old customers as well as meeting new ones and last but not least there is that wonderful feeling that you get as you glance around an event and see the happy satisfied faces everybody present as they devour and enjoy the food that I have worked hard to cook.  It may be hard work sometimes but the benefits of being a hog roast caterer definitely outweigh the long hours.  Chow for now hog roast caterer blog readers.  Much love from the one and only BBQ Barry.

The first hog roast of another busy week

Good morning everyone!  Its Monday the 7th of March and its a great day for a hog roast job!  It might only be early March but we have been treated to a nice sunny day which is great as we have a special outdoors hog roast event this afternoon.  More often than not Monday is a quiet day for catering jobs and its often spent recovering from a hectic working weekend or helping out in the busy office so it makes a refreshing change to be preparing to cook a hog roast on a Monday.  It’s a local job as well just five minutes away from the hog roast caterer depot at a primary school.  They are celebrating their spring fair and there will be a raffle, tombola, bring and buy stall and most importantly a classic hog roast provided by us.

We will cook, carve and serve our tasty hog roast to 200 hungry pupils, teachers and parents.  We will be serving the succulent hog roast in fresh, soft bread rolls with home made apple sauce and home made stuffing, so simple yet so satisfying!  We have worked with this school before catering at various events for them so it will be great to go back and see some familiar faces and catch up over a pork sandwich!  Of course with the sun shining and the warm weather its looks set to be a great day.

So time to get going and cook yet another pig to perfection for yet another happy customer.  Chow for now Hog blog readers.

Happy hog roast customers :)

The month of February arrives and with it a great expectation of the coming summer. After enduring a winter which spread its icy fingers into everyone’s homes, the thought of a sunlit and joyous summer is something that we cannot wait for. This year, our catering teams will be spurred on by the sun, and by the glorious encouragement we receive from our customers. Just yesterday, one of our chefs was spontaneously hugged by a woman in the street. She claimed that the food he had prepared the month before had moved her to tears. May I add that her tears were tears of joy. Not of sadness and/or grief.

Further activities this month will include many catered events, both in inner city locations as well as in rural places. The simple notion of our ‘cater anywhere’ ethos allows this beautiful flexibility. Giving our customers the freedom to choose everything within their catered events, we continue to push the boundaries of taste as well as the whole culinary experience. I will leave you with a quote, spoken by one of chefs at a charity event which we hosted. Speaking to one of our chefs, a small child said ‘You have made me truly happy. This is the best part I have ever been to.
