Sporting events and our tasty BBQ’s

Hello there!  Its time for the first hog blog of the week 🙂 I have had a very busy weekend with lots of catering events on.  My favourite event this weekend was a charity sports event in my home town.  I was delighted to be asked to provide bbq catering for the special event.

As much as I love to do a good hog roast its always nice to have a  change and do something different so I really enjoyed doing the bbq catering for this event.  Our bbq menus are always popular at these types of events particularly through the warmer months.

The day was cantered around cricket and there was ten teams involved in the torment.  The event began at lunch time and went on until it went dark.  So it was lucky I took extra food for my bbq catering feast.  I cooked up tasty burgers, sausages and marinated chicken legs all served with fresh bread and a selection of my home made secret recipe sauces and chutneys.

It was a long day for everyone but it was great fun.  I also got to see some regular customers as well as meet some new friendly faces.  Many people had lots of questions about hog roast caterer and what we do so I was able to share information and pass on details of how to book us for hog roast and bbq catering.  One of the young families I was speaking too has already telephoned the office and booked us to do some of our bbq catering at a birthday party that they are holding next month.

Mid week BBQ in March

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read Tuesdays hog blog.  It’s been wonderful weather here recently and today is no exception as the Sun is shinning and I’m lucky enough to be heading off out to do another outdoor catering event.

Today its a bbq catering event.  So I will be cooking up a selection of meaty treats for the 50 guests.  They are enjoying a mid week garden party to celebrate a family members early retirement party.  We are cooking quality sausages, burgers and steaks.  To compliment them we have home made sauces and relishes as well as fresh bread rolls and tasty salads.  I love a bbq catering event and I’m sure the customers will do too.

I’m sure  it will be a great day and lets hope the sun keeps shinning but if we do get a cold spell or some March showers then fear not as we will be taking a gazebo and portable heaters just in case.  We will be fully prepared for anything so that our bbq catering event is faultless.

bbq catering at a country pub

What have we got to inform you all of today??

Well tonight we are catering for a Country pub which is located on a Canal side where they have asked us to do a BBQ for them and bbq catering is something we do very well. The surroundings are very picturesque and the weather seems to be staying bright, so hopefully the guests will be able to mingle outside and join in on the wonderful experience. We will go prepared with a marquee just in case though.

Not sure what the pub is celebrating or whether this is just a treat for the customers or if its a private event outside on the terraces. We will be able to chat with all the people we meet whilst the Sausages and Burgers are being cooked and it is a great visual for guests inside the pub. They have also asked us to do the side dishes as well like salads and potatoes which have our own secret recipes incorporated in them. We have had numerous catering opportunities at this lovely country pub so we definitely have made a good impression by our professional service not to mention the superb food we produce. Because their business is so busy this is the reason why they have brought us in so they do not have to worry about their staffing and they know we are good at what we do. I am sure it will be an excellent night had by all and many future events will be catered for by us here.

Spit roasted beef for local event and our trip to the food and drink festival

We have two mid week event that are both part of the British food Fortnight 2010.  The first one is this evening and it has been organized by a local pub.  The pub owners  have sold tickets to local people and invited them for an evening of traditional British food and entertainment.  The hog roast caterer team will be providing part of the menu as we will be spit roasting large joints of beef to serve with traditional trimmings such as roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables followed by a damson crumble all off with we are picking up from our local farmers market today.

Tomorrow we are attending a local food and drink festival which is being held as part of British Food fortnight 2010.  It’s a chance for people who visit to see what different foods are available to them and to find out more about us.  Lots of different local catering and food produce companies will also be attending and it’s a great chance to meet new contacts and customers.

We will be demonstrating what we do best ….. a traditional hog roast served with fresh bread rolls and homemade apple sauce and stuffing.

student food!

Operating within and through one of the nations most reputable caterers can sometimes facilitate the most peculiar of experiences. Just this weekend past, many of us were attending a seminar on food dispersal held by one of the local universities. The event itself was quite a sensation, and was very insightful to see how the youth of the catering field were approaching new aspects of service. Many of the students found themselves highly enraptured by our catering experiences, and in turn we loved to indulge their inquisitive minds as regards their understanding of the bespoke and tailored catering world.

What is always interesting to note is how the culinary landscape shifts and changes with time, in a manner which is often unpredictable. Over recent years, the palate of the nation has changed considerably, and now there has been much forward progress when it comes to such areas as variety within menus, or freshness in terms of sourcing produce. Through aspects of society such as television chefs, the media has helped to foster a large degree of enlightenment within the world of food and catering. Thus, today, when we sit in on student presentations regarding fine cuisine services, it is interesting to see how they interpret the shifting situations. Ourselves, we feel obliged to help out, as our ‘front-line’ experience in catering has allowed us to observe, first hand, the effects of societal shifts in quality. For us, the emphasis on change has been great, as now more people are eating brilliant food than ever before!
