Hog roasts hires allover the UK

Good morning everybody hope you are all well today!  Its Wednesday the 20th o April and it looks like I am going to be spending most of my day on the road driving all over the UK.  Why I hear you ask?  Well today its my turn to go out and do the deliveries for our hog roast hire customers.

Our customers are obviously taking advantage of the fine weather and planning their own out door parties and events for the lovely sunny evenings that we are enjoying at the moment.  This is great news for us as we have had a massive increase in hog roast hire enquiries and bookings.  We are hiring our machines out so customers can do their very own meat roasts.  This is a very enjoyable and cost effective way to enjoy the hog roast experience.  As we can provide the pig as well its an opportunity not to be missed.

The first three hog roast hires are all in the local area.  The first drop off is just a machine for a farmer and his family who are enjoying an outdoor family gathering later.  They will be using one of their own pigs.  Then its a machine and hog delivery to a local pub.  After this I will be dropping of a smaller machine and lamb for another party.  Then I have a long drive ahead of me and quite a few hog roast hire deliveries along the way.  It’s going to be a long day!!

Football, BBQ and beers….. the perfect Summer evening

Good afternoon everybody! its almost the end of another busy in the hog roast caterer office and while we may soon be closing the office for the evening our work does not end there.  Tonight we are doing some of our extra special bbq catering for a local pub.  Its a local pub that we often frequent ourselves when we are not working so it will be great to cook up some bbq treats and catch up with familiar faces.  It’s a last minute request the owners called us yesterday morning and decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather by offering some bbq catering while they show the football tonight.  I’m sure its going to be a full house down there after all we’ve got the sunshine, the football and best of all our bbq catering!  What more could you ask for?  Its the recipe for the perfect Summers evening 🙂

We will be keeping things nice and simple this evening with good old bbq favourites like sausages, beef burgers chicken burgers.  Of course we will also have quorn burgers and vegetable kebabs to keep all of our veggie customers happy.  Also these great barbecue treats will be served up with fresh, soft bread rolls and a wide selection of home made sauces, relishes and chutneys.  I’m sure like all of our other bbq catering menus this simple but satisfying menu will go down a real treat.  All we need now is for the right team to score!!!

A hog roast in the sun

A hog roast in the sun

Hello hog blog readers hope you are all having a great day.  Look at the glorious weather outside today.  It really does seem to put a smile on everybody’s face and the hog roast caterer team are no exception.  I don’t think I have ever seen so many smiles on a Monday morning.  Like the beautiful weather our hog roasts always manage to make people smile and create a great atmosphere at any event.

Yesterday  we catered at a outdoor music event not too far from us, as we had the sunshine AND a tasty hog roast our clients plus visitors to the event were more than pleased.  We did a nice and simple hog roast menu.  As well melt in the mouth, cooked to perfection pork we treated the 500 people to freshly baked bread rolls, home made savoury stuffing, sweet secret recipe apple sauce and crunchy crackling.  This allows our customers to get the best experience from the hog roast and makes the ultimate pork sandwich.

It certainly went down a treat as people queued up for seconds and even thirds it wasn’t long before everybody had eaten and there wasn’t a scrap of meat left for us!  So obviously it was appreciated and enjoyed by all.  After this hog roast event was complete we pack up and headed of to our next party which was another outdoor event so we got to enjoy the evening sun shine as well.  Fingers crossed the good weather continues into the long Easter weekend next week.

The rise of the hog roast

A hog roast has always been a spectacular, tasty way to feed guests at a party and it is a tradition that goes back hundreds of years in the UK.  In other countries the humble hog roast is used to celebrate many occasions and customs and has been for many, many years.  So while it is not a new idea, it has certainly grown in popularity over the last few years and each year it seems the demand is growing more and more.  The good old hog roast has certainly taken the catering industry by storm and Summer 2011 looks like it will be no exception.

So what has made the pig roast become Brittan’s favourite way to eat at an event?  Well not only is a hog roast filling, tasty and a cost effective way to feed lots of people but it is also a great sight to watch and enjoy.  It makes an event seem that little bit more spectacular.  Of course the celebrity influence has also made an impact on the ever rising popularity of the hog roast.  Many A lister’s have enjoyed this style of feat at their star studded weddings and charity events, making the humble hog roast a regular feature in glossy celebrity magazines.  Of course this instantly makes the hog roast more appealing to the general public of the UK after all if its good enough for the rich and famous then its good enough for the rest of rest of us.  There has even been rumours that a hog roast and a spit roasted lamb may be on the menu at a certain prestigious very high profile wedding later this year, only time we tell if this is correct but it  wouldn’t come as a great surprise if this turned out to be correct!

For others who are not interested in keeping one step ahead of celebrity trend and couldn’t care less what the rich and famous are eating on their wedding day (or any day for that matter!) the hog roast can still be appreciated and enjoyed.  For many it is a great British tradition that dates back away before our time and its a pleasure to enjoy a classic in the same way our ancestors would have done.

Of course its not just us Brits who are tucking into a good old pig roast.  It seems all over the globe hog roasts are being devoured by many for a whole host of occasions and celebrations.  From our friends across the pond in the USA who are choosing to enjoy a spit roasted pig for their Thanksgiving dinner over the traditional turkey feast, to our Australian friends on the other side of the world who are turning away from their usual barbecues to tuck into a hog roast on the beach. And it doesn’t end there many other places in the world also appreciate a good hog roast.  Such as in Puerto Rico where a hog roast is traditionally done on New Years Eve and not forgetting Cuban families who like to devour a hog roast on Christmas eve.  It seems the rise of the hog roast is set to continue all over the world.

The long weekends and good Friday weddings

Good morning everybody, Happy Friday to you all.  It’s Friday the 15th of April 2011 the sun might be shinning but at least its not raining today 🙂

For many of you the end of this week marks the last five day week for quite a while.  As we have so many bank holidays packed into this month and next most of you will be looking forward to some long weekends and some well earned time off.  However for the hog roast caterer team this is not possible as bank holidays are one of our busiest times so it will be all work and no play for us over the next few weeks.  Not that I am complaining as it shows business is doing well plus I love my job so I’m happy to put the hours in.

The first bank holiday event we have is a wedding on good Friday.  We will be cooking up our wedding catering treats for a local couple and their seventy guests that day.  They have chosen to have a nice relaxed informal buffet style feast.  This is becoming a more and more popular choice for wedding catering.  We are looking forward to cooking up a tasty hog roast and spit roasted whole salmon buffet.  After all its good Friday so following tradition we have included some fish into our fantastic wedding catering package.  Lets hope the weather stays nice for the happy couple!

Hope everybody has a great weekend and we will be back on Monday with another hog blog.

Summer BBQ

Hello blog readers, its almost weekend again! In fact its already Thursday or as we like to call it in the hog roast caterer office……Friday eve! Been checking the forecast for this Saturday and Sunday and according to weather reports its set to be another scorcher just like last week.  Thats great news for myself and the rest of the team as we have quite a few bbq catering events booked for this Saturday afternoon and a couple on Sunday evening as well.  While we while do our pig roasts and bbq catering options in all weathers we have to admit there are always more enjoyable in the sunshine with everybody enjoying the Summer vibe.  So lots of meaty treats and side dishes while complete our bb catering packages this weekend including classic favourites such as the humble sausage and good old burger.  We will be teaming these two favourites with the more exotic spicy lamb kebabs and tandori chicken burgers as well as luxury bbq items like sirloin steaks and fresh barbecued seafood treats.  As always all of our meat treats will be teamed with the softest bread rolls, crunchiest, freshest salads and our award winning home made sauces.  Yum yum I am hungry just thinking about it all.  My favourite part of Summer is definitely bbq catering jobs.

Local company celebrate their business birthday with a hog roast

It’s time for another hog blog from everyone’s favourite hog roast caterers!  Hi everybody hope you are all well and having a fantastic Wednesday its half way to the weekend so keep going now we are almost there now.

I have an interesting mid week event this evening as I am catering at corporate function.  Its a large local company and they have requested our services at their function this tonight.  It is for all employees of the company and is to celebrate 25 successful years in business.  Of course there is no better way to celebrate such an occasion then with a tasty hog roast.  Its not just our famous hog roast that’s on offer either.  The whole work force is being treated to a fine three course meal cooked by yours truly and the rest of my team.  We will serve canapés on arrival and mouth watering starters before bringing on the main treat……. the mighty hog roast and of course all the extras finally we will finish with our home made sweet treats for pudding.  It should be a great night.

A Tuesday in the life of a hog roast caterer

So its Tuesday morning in the hog roast caterer office and I would like to say Good morning to all of our old and new customers and devoted hog blog readers.  Hope you are all having a fantastic day so far.  It looks as if the sun has decided to make a reappearance so fingers crossed we will have another beautiful day like we did at the weekend 🙂

Friday nights and Saturdays and Sundays tend to be our busiest time with most of our events taking place on these days.  However during Spring and Summer we get more and more enquiries and bookings for mid week events.  So hopefully as we move into next month we will be cooking at events seven days a week….There’s no rest for a hog roast caterer!

Today I don’t have any events to cater for but its still quite a hectic day for me.  A hog roast caterer always has many tasks to complete.  My first job is too visit the local farmers market to stock on some fresh tasty apples so I can whip up another batch of my secret recipe apple sauce, then I’m off to visit a client and do a site visit for a wedding that we will be doing next month, after that I’m off to buy new crockery for our events.  Many people planning functions now request real crockery for their food so I’m going to stock up and make sure we have plenty as we have a very large formal event at the end of this week.  By the time I have done all this it will be time for this hog roast caterer to sit down with a well earned cup of tea.

Weekend wedding catering in April

Good morning everyone its Monday once again and it feels like the weekend has flown by far too quickly!  But what a beautiful weekend it was, for once it seemed the whole country was treated to some glorious sunshine and clear skies.  Everybody definitely made the most of it, Every beer garden and park we past on our travellers was full of people enjoying the fantastic weather.  Our weekend was devoted to wedding catering.  Myself and my event team had three wedding catering jobs this weekend.  On Friday night we provided  one of our simple but scrumptious party menu options for an evening wedding reception.  Then on both Saturday we provided a full wedding catering service to a couple of newly weds and their guest.  The wedding was held at a beautiful country hotel.  We began the day by serving breakfast to the guest before the ceremony.  They feasted on premium sausages and bacon as well as fresh fruit salad.  After the couple had exchanged vows and photos had been done we served champagne cocktails and luxury canapés.  This was followed later by a beautiful three course meal sit down meal before the evening disco began.  In the early hours when the party was in full swing we also served up an evening bbq buffet.  It was a long day but also very enjoyable and successful.  Congratulations once again to Mr and Mrs Goldwell. Myself and the rest of the roast caterer team wish you a long and happy life together and it was an honour for us to do your wedding catering.

Sunny Catering

Out on events today and it has sure been one hell of a fine day. The sun was shining and the birds were singing. All was set to be one of those days which the mobile hog and spit roast caterer dreams of. As we headed towards our first catered wedding function in the northern parts of Cumbria, we noticed that there was a strange noise coming from the back of the catering van we were in. This was not a great start. However, after stopping and checking everything out, we realised that all was well and thus we continued.

After collecting our freshly slaughtered pigs from the organic producers on the way to the venue, we stopped off to retrieve some salad and vegetable options that were needed in order to fulfil the requirements of the hosts requests. These things included some rather exotic ingredients, so as chefs we were really excited by the prospect of getting to grips with some exceptional cuisine as well as some great methods of food preparation. During the hog and spit roast catered event, it was great to note just how well all of our food was going down with the guest. Filled to the brim with a variety of our wonderful foods, the clients could simply not get enough of the glorious food which we put on offer for the benefit of our clients. From sumptuous pork through to fantastically cooked lamb, our food put a solid stamp on excellence.
