Day in the life of a hog roast caterer: bookings and festival food

Good afternoon hog blog readers.  It’s Matthew here, one of the hog roast caterers and I am going to share what the day has in store for me.

I hope you are all well and you are having a fantastic Tuesday afternoon! Its a typical Tuesday for this hog roast caterer and I am chasing potential customers to see if they are happy with the catering quotations that have received from us.  I am having a very good day so far as I have confirmed three more bookings this morning.  All three of them are for events next month and myself and other members of the team will be providing the catering.  One of these bookings is for a large music festival that I have attended in the past so I am especially excited about this one.

In fact I am off for a meeting with a team of organisers for the festival this afternoon.  They have requested a simple hog roast menu for the general public who are attending the festival and also we are honoured to be cooking up some more elaborate menus to be served to the stars backstage!  We are off to the meeting now to finalise menus and details.  We will also be taking samples dishes so the organisers can experience our tasty treats first hand.  We will keep you updated on the developments of this exciting event.

Better get going we wont to arrive there in plenty of time and make a good impression.  Another member of the team will back tomorrow with more hog roast catering stories.

BBQ Feast

Good afternoon Hog Blog readers!  Hope you have all had a good Monday 🙂

Its been a busy one for myself and my fellow hog roast chefs.  We have done an outdoor event today in the local area.  As the weather has been grey, wet and miserable we put up our gazebo to keep ourselves, our customers and our yummy food warm and dry.

We cooked up one of our BBQ catering feasts today.  The organisers and their guests feasted on classic barbecue treats such as burgers and sausages as well as exotic spicy Thai chicken wings and Greek style lamb steaks.  We also barbecued some more luxurious meats such as prime rump steaks.  We also had stuffed peppers on offer as well as char grilled veggie kebabs so that our guests who don’t love meat could still enjoy a bbq catering experience done by the hog roast caterer team.

To accompany these selection of tasty barbecue treats we have fresh bread rolls, a wide selection of sauces and chutneys (all home made of course!) and yummy salads.  The whole lot was polished off within an hour……. Another successful bbq catering event.

Time to pack up now and head back to the office and see what new enquiries are waiting for us.  Then off home for a good nights sleep as I have an early start tomorrow.  I am travelling to a city centre location and preparing a three course sit down meal for a lunch time business event.  More about that event in tomorrows blog 🙂

End of Football Season hog roast

Hello hog blog lovers! Hope you are all having a great day today.  Its Wednesday the 11th of May and the sun may not be shinning today but the hog roast caterer team are still in high spirits as work away in our busy office planning upcoming catering and hog roast hire events.

Its been a busy morning and the afternoon is going to be even more hectic for myself.  I have a few hog roast hire jobs to do today.  A hog roast hire is alternative from having us catering your event.  With the hog roast hire option you can hire a machine from us and we will also supply a quality pig and a gas bottle so you can do your very own hog roast.  The first is for a local football team.  Many of the players of this team are close friends of mine and I often pop down to support them during their Sunday morning games.  They have reached the end of the season and are in the local cup final.  The have won the cup for the last three years running so fingers crossed they can do it for the fourth time!!!

The team often like to enjoy some catering from us after a big game but this time they have decided to have a go themselves and opted for the hog roast hire option.  We will deliver one of our smaller machines as well as suckling pig and the gas that the will need to power the machine.  This way not only will the enjoy the tasty hog roast but they can also experience the fun and benefits of during their own cooking with a hog roast hire option.  Good luck to the lads in their big game lets hope the hog roast will be part of a celebration rather than commiseration

wedding hog blog

Just a quick update on the things that we have been doing this week, as a hog roast caterer and professional chef I have been busy cooking all over the bank holiday’s and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself, met some great people and had a laugh. The food that has been prepared for the guests was very well presented if I say so myself and my team of assistants were in the background making sure the finer details were not missed.

Tomorrow my team and I are traveling about one hours drive to cater for a Wedding Reception. The Bride to be and Groom booked us last year in 2010 and went for the Wedding Menu 5 which includes Canapés, my staff are to serve the drinks. The couple have gone for the Sirloin of Beef ( instead of the Hog Roast)which will be accompanied by my homemade Sauce, as well as all the other warm side dishes. This Wedding Menu also incorporates the day with the Evening Buffet so again we are there for the evening guests. The Couple have asked us to dress the tables with the linen and arrange the Wine and Water. It will be a long day as we will be up at the crack of dawn and a lot of planning has gone into making the food and our appearance exemplary. Like every event we are booked for we take pride in our food that we are serving and are always professional and keep that approach. I would not have it any other way, and my staff respect that.

Busy bank holiday weekend for a hog roast caterer

Hello hog blog readers, hope you have all had a great long weekend.  Did you watch the Royal wedding?  I got to enjoy snippets of it myself on a big screen as I slaved away at one of the many street parties myself and the other hog roast chefs catered at.  As a hog roast caterer it was a non stop long weekend!  Here’s a little journal of work over the four day holiday.  Its true what they say…….. A hog roast caterer’ s work is never done!

Friday – I catered at four different street parties throughout the day.  The first three enjoyed a hg roast whilst the last evening street party opted for a BBQ menu

Saturday – It was a pleasure to be the main hog roast caterer at a colleagues wedding.  One of the office girls tied the knot and we cooked up a tremendous hog roast fest for her special wedding breakfast

Sunday – Sunday was the busiest day of the entire weekend.  I had many machines hires to deliver, a lunch time event and two hog roasts for private parties in the evening.

Monday – Just one event today but it was one of our largest with over 3000 people to feed throughout the day.  It was a food and drink festival celebrating British food and drink.  The organisers had asked us to have plenty of food available for the attendee’s all day long so  we cooked up a few of our award winning hog roasts as well as burgers and sausages and served these throughout the day to the hungry.

Busy times!

Hello hog blog readers hope you are all well today.  Its the big day tomorrow the wedding of the year and all the staff are talking about today is there plans for the Royal wedding and where they will be watching it.  Myself and the rest of the hog roast caterers will be busy cooking at events for celebrators and roasting hogs at street parties.

After the royal wedding celebrations are over we have a royal wedding off our own to cater for as one of our lovely admin assistants is tying the knot on Saturday afternoon and marrying the love of her life 🙂

And what did they choose to eat as their wedding breakfast meal?  A luxury hog roast with all the trimmings of course!  And who did they ask to cater this for them? Us of course, and not just because of the staff discount!  Also because we are the best wedding caterers around and have a wide range of quality wedding menus to choose from…… in fact I’m quite surprised that William and Kate didn’t ask us to roast a pig for them tomorrow but never mind it is their loss!

So on Saturday myself, other members of the catering team and our waiting on staff will be kept busy at this wedding.  We cant wait to cook up one of our excellent hog roast wedding catering packages for the happy couple on their special day! Congratulations to Sara and her fiancé the whole team wishes you a long and happy life together

A right royal hog roast

Good afternoon once again hog blog readers.  Hope you are all well on this fine afternoon!  What is everybody’s plans for the next long weekend?  I hope we will see you all at one of our many hog roast events that we are catering over the four day weekend.

The full weekend looks very busy but without a date our busiest day is Friday the 29th of April…… the royal wedding day.  It seems the whole of the UK wishes to enjoy and celebrate the big day with a good old fashioned street party and a traditional hog roast.  Every single member of the team is booked up all day cooking tasty hog roast menus on Friday.

Myself and another member of my team are doing a local street party and cooking a simple pig in a bun menu for our customers and their friends and family.  We will be cooking the popular hog roast menu and serving a special union jack disposable plates and paper napkins which we have purchased specially for the occasion.  Other members of the team will be doing the same thing at street parties all over the UK.

So on Friday the 29th make sure you are near a street party being catered by us and come and enjoy a right royal hog roast!

Easter BBQ

Hello hog blog readers.  Hope you have all had a fantastic Easter weekend!  The sun was shinning all weekend so I hope you made the most of your four days off work.  If the thought of work today has made you all a little down in the dumps then cheer up because its a short week this week with another long bank holiday weekend to look forward to 🙂

I hope Easter weekend was fun for everybody and you indulged in lots of beer and Easter eggs on your days off.  We did a big Easter outdoor event on Sunday afternoon.  This gave us the chance to do some of our wonderful bbq catering.  We served up lots of  meaty bbq treats as well as stuffed peppers for the non meat eaters who attended.  One of the things we cooked up for the 200 visitors was our brand new lamb burgers.  They went down a real treat and will most definitely be added to our bbq catering menus from now on.

There was lots of activities and events going on to keep everybody entertained during the day including an Easter egg treasure hunt for the children.
