Thrre Legged Race To The Hog Roast

HAPPY FRIDAY HOG BLOG READERS!

Its |Friday the 26th of August 2011 and the bank holiday weekend is about to begin!  I love August bank holiday weekend, it may signal the end of the Summer but it always brings us lots of exciting catering events and this year is no exception.

On Sunday we are traveling about 30miles to a village to help them celebrate a time honored tradition a three legged race/ pub crawl.  Yes every year the fun loving locals of this village tie themselves to a friend and do a pub crawl.  The have to drink a certain drink in each pub and the first ones to complete are the winners!  At the end they treat themselves to a hog roast with all the trimmings done by yours truly. Its not the first time we have catered this particular event and its always great fun sp I’m really looking \forward to it 🙂

Sailing the high seas with a hog roast

Hi hog blog readers! Hope you’re all well today! We know we’ll certainly be feeling great after the Hog Roast Caterer team get their dose of the great outdoors today! The event we’re catering for is not too far away today, only a 20 minute journey and it’s events like these that make you realise how lucky we are to never be too far away from beautiful scenery! Where are we going I hear you ask, well, we’re off to a gorgeous lake side event and it’s surrounded by rolling hills and moorland. But the event is not so peaceful, it’s for  a sailing club that uses the lake to practice sailing and various other watersports. Today sees various clubs from around the area meeting for a friendly race! We will be catering for all the clubs and their supporters which total a nice number of 80 guests for us in total. The races will be taking place all afternoon so with us being outside for this event, we’ll be able to catch a piece of the action, that it when we’re not busy cooking up some grub for everyone to dive into after they’ve finished. We’re just hoping the weather stays as nice as it is this morning, to keep all participants and spectators in high spirits because we’ve heard that when the people on the sidelines get wet, they’re not the happiest bunch! Although we’re pretty sure, whatever the weather that our hog roasts can cheer anyone up with them tasting so great!

Gold Medal Hog Roast

Good Morning everybody and welcome to the latest daily hog blog!  Hope you are all well on this fine Wednesday!

It might be a good year away yet but it seems that today the Olympics 2012 is on everybody’s mind!  This morning alone we have had not one not two not three but four different enquiries from clients requesting the hog roast caterer team to cater for their Olympic parties.

Yes it seems many of hours customers are planning gatherings and celebrations for the opening ceremony.  And why not?  After all the tickets that allow you to actually be there in the thick of the action are like gold dust so the next best thing is to celebrate at home or in your local pub with your friends and family whilst enjoying one of our outstanding hog roasts.

Its not surprising how far ahead people are planning as this Olympics is more important than ever as it being held in London.  So watch the opening ceremony, parade and see the torch being passed along and be proud to be British as you enjoy your Hog roast.

Perhaps this year Britain will truly shine and win all the events and take home the medals.  But if not and the USA beat us yet again then at least our hog roast is gold medal standard.

So time to get your Olympics party organised before we are fully booked!  I predict it will be the busiest day of the year!

Last Of The Summer Hog Roast

Hi everybody and a big warm welcome to Tuesdays hog blog.  it’s Tuesday the 23rd of August 2011 and its a busy day in the office once again.  Lots of last minute bookings are pouring in today for events over the next three weeks.  It seems everybody is making the most of Summer before it fades away once again for another year by throwing late August/ early September parties, BBQs, gathering etc.  This is great news for us and we are more than happy to help all of our hog roast customers end the Summer on a high with a fantastic, tasty and good value hog roast 🙂

A perfect example of this is a party I have booked in for this evening.  A group of twenty odd friends are about to return to University to begin their second year.  So after a Summer of fun they are once again about to leave each other, their families and home town and are having one last party together.  So they contacted us and asked us to provide a hog roast for this occasion of course we are more than happy to!  We will be doing hog roast, bread rolls and sauces the perfect simple party menu!  And as we cook, carve and serve the hog roast we would like to wish the students a fond farewell for now but we will no doubt see you at Christmas when you return for the festive season.

Childrens Party BBQ

Hello and good afternoon to all of our hog blog readers.  Hope you are all well today and ready for the first Hog Roast Caterer blog of a new week.  Its Monday 22nd of August 2011 and we back in the office today after a busy weekend of being out and about on various catering jobs.

One of the jobs I did this weekend was a children’s birthday party yesterday afternoon.  It was a garden party and all the children came in fancy dress as their favourite Disney characters.  They played games and were treated to not one but two live acts as both a clown and a magician performed for them much to their delight.  After the entertainment was over we served up a special bb menu designed specifically for the little ones.  The enjoyed mini burgers and hog dogs as well as chicken drumsticks and chips.  Then our serving staff served up birthday cake along with jelly and ice cream.  We also had a some joints cooking away so the mums and dads got to enjoy a mini hog roast too.  The food was a big hit with both the grown up and the kids and we had great fun catering for everybody.

We have not done too many childrens parties in the past but its something we would be more than happy to do more of so watch this space for some kiddies hog roast and bbq menus!  I think we will get working on that as our next project.

Neighbour Hood BBQ

Hello there to all of our loyal hog blog readers!  Hope you are all having a great Thursday and looking forward to another weekend!  I am writing this blog to you as I am on way to this evenings event.

My catering assistant is driving myself and her to a local village hall where we are doing a bbq menu for a neighbourhood watch meeting.  It’s a special meeting tonight as the neighbour hood watch team are celebrating their 5th anniversary of working together as a community and also celebrating the first crime free year in their village.  So the thirty member have a requested that we do a bbq menu for this special occasion.

I love bbq catering especially on warm Summer evenings like this one so I’m sure we will really enjoy catering tonight.  We have catered various events at this particular village hall so it will be great to return and see some familiar faces.  So what is on offer for the crime fighting villagers on this fine evening?  Well we are offering the traditional bbq favourites and serving 100% Aberdeen Angus beef burgers along with premium pork and apple sausages.  Then some more luxury bbq treats will be presented as we cook up fillet steaks and chicken kebabs.  The vegetarians won’t miss out either as we are doing Mediterranean veggie skewers as well as stuffed peppers.  To compliment these meaty and meat free treats we have a wide range of salads and well as potato skins filled with melted cheese and tasty bacon.  Hmmmmmm its making my mouth water just thinking of it.

Happy Hire Customers

Hello everybody its Wednesday already!  Halfway there to another weekend but until then why not take five minutes out of your working day and enjoy our midweek hog blog?

Over the last weekend we had a few hog roast hire jobs as usual.  A hog roast hire is when the customer simply hires the machine from us (we can also provide the pig or other meat of their choice) and then they do the hog roast themselves.  It gives people a cheaper, fun DIY option to try.  This week we had a customer who had never had a hog roast hire from us before, it was her very first one.  So we were more than delighted when we received this email from her this morning:

Dear Hog Roast Caterer Team

Just wanted to say a huge Thank you to you for the hog roast machine hire this weekend.  I have to admit I was quite nervous about doing my own hog roast but the machine you provided was easy to use and reliable plus the demo and advice you shared when you delivered the machine proved to be a big help.  My husband and I managed to produce a perfectly cooked hog for our guests who were very impressed with our new skill!  Will most certainly being doing a hog roast hire with you lot again.

Many Thanks

Mrs Jones

An Olde English Hog Roast

Hi all you hog blog fans! Today I’m off out on a catering event with a difference. We all associate a hog roast  with traditional Britain, well this event is going to live  up that as it’s a medieval themed event!! People will be dressing up in medieval outfits, taking parts. It’s going to be like doing a bit of time travel as we step back into the middle ages as a real touch of olde England is added to the event. The organisers have really gone all out for their guests, complete with minstrels, jesters and strolling players this is an event we could miss out on as a hog roast is really the finishing touch! We’re not just doing our basic hog roast at this event – we too are going all out to lay on a banquet for the guests with potatoes and a variety of salads and side dishes and the pig roasting in the machine will look just the part! the events due to go on into the night with musicians and dancing planned until the early hours. There will be a few lessons for the dancing which we’re hoping we can get involved with as it’s something we’ve not tried before and we’re always wanting to try new things. It should be fun! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone all dressed up the most!

Festival Hog Roast

Good afternoon to all the hog blog readers out there!  Hope you are all having a great day on this fine Friday afternoon.  The sun may not be shinning down on the hog roast caterer team as we begin another busy weekend but we are still in high spirits and great moods as we have many exciting catering events and new challenges to look forward to over the next 48 hours.

The first job for myself and my team is an extremely large scale event that we are catering at tomorrow.  Its a famous music festival about 50 miles from HC headquarters and we will be there all day serving up the popular hog roast sandwich to the music lovers.  There will be thousands and thousands of people attending this so are well prepared and have enough pigs, rolls and condiments to keep us going all day long without running out and leaving the festival goers without!   This is probably one of the largest events I have done so its very exciting!  I’m sure it will be a wonderful day with a great atmosphere and who knows we may even manage to serve a pork roll to some famous faces.  Lets hope the weather stays fine for us but I have packed my raincoat and wellys just in case!

Hope whatever you hog blog readers are up to you all have a great weekend and don’t forget to join us on Monday morning for the first hog blog of the week so you can catch up on the hog roasting adventures of our weekend!

Busy Day and Night For Hog Roast Caterer

Good afternoon and welcome to Thursdays hog blog!  Its been a very busy day for us so far as we have had many enquiries pouring into the office asking for our availability and prices for all kinds of events.  Some in the next few weeks and some as far away as 2014, so these customer enquiries have kept us very busy all day and the evening looks set to be just as hectic as I have one catering job to do, three machine hires to deliver and on the way to all these jobs I am meeting up with a possible future customer to discuss the final menu and hopefully place a booking.  Its certainly non stop at the moment for this hog roast caterer but I wouldn’t have it any other way 🙂

Join me tomorrow for another hog blog
