When I was organising my friends 30th birthday party a few weeks ago, I was told by her close friends and family to make it as memorable as possible. Surprise parties have been in abundance for my friend as she had one for her twenty first and eighteenth so, third time round, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise anymore. Then again, we have had meals at some of the snazziest and most fashionable of restaurants around and although the impressive surroundings have been nothing short of remarkable I considered all of these and wanted to go for a different angle. So, there I was trying to figure out what was best for my friend and a work colleague suggested that I choose a hog roast. After doing a quick search on the internet, there are many companies which provide this type of service and it opened a world to me which I didn’t know existed. So, if like me, you were wondering what hog roasts were then I shall try and enlighten you so that if you ever find yourself in the same situation as myself you’ll be fully prepared.
My first question to the company which I liked the sound of was can they provide for a small gathering that, in the case of yours truly, was ever so true. And the answer was yes, they could. They told me that they are used to serving up the finest hog roasts for large gatherings such as weddings, christenings and even funerals so they are certainly able to cater for whatever crowd size.
Now, I admit to being no Jamie Oliver. I can only just about cook a boiled egg but I do make a great roast dinner. What I’m trying to say is that my culinary skills are somewhat lacking. The company I spoke to certainly knew how to keep the customer satisfied as they gave a complete breakdown about what they could provide for this price. Even though I was just curious and did not want to spend this extra money on alcohol as it was a ‘bring your own’ birthday party did this company also provide their own bread rolls and salad? Not only did they do this but they also mentioned that they were able to supply their own Waldorf salad as well as canapés which was a very nice touch indeed.

Being a homeowner, my kitchen is not able to host hog roast catering so I asked about this as well? After a series of questions about what I thought was best, they turned up on the day with their own hog oven which helped cook the hog further when they arrived promptly.
